WWE Wrestlemania 38 - AT&T Stadium
Becky Lynch vs Bianca Belair (WWE Raw Womens Championship)
Becky Lynch entrance to introduce the conetest with a Marvel-esque opening credits to a movie showcasing The Man’s best moments throughout her WWE career. Entering in style and as her nickname suggests, big time for one of the most influential female wrestlers of the modern day. An energy fit for the biggest WWE showcase of the year at AT&T Stadium.
The challenger follows suit with a full marching band on the stage to welcome the EST of WWE, Bianca Belair. Truly grand entrances for the Grandest Stage Of Them All. Belair well known for making her own gear for her matches, matching the spectacular entrance with marching band inspired gear for this match. With red and gold to match the title on the line that she hopes to win.
Both competitors received their deserved ovations. The bell rings as the atmosphere cranks up and anticipation is palpable in the air. Lynch looks to put this match to bed in a matter of seconds just as she did at Summerslam during her surprise return in 2021. However, Belair looks to reverse to apply the KOD to win early, which is reversed again with Becky delivering the Man Handle Slam. Byron Saxton on commentary says “history would not repeat itself tonight” as the camera shows a shocked crowd and back to the champion who can’t believe she has not retained her title already.
After multiple covers again by Lynch, Belair looks for a roll-up pin, countered by Becky who tries to use the ropes to her advantage, which the referee spots and stops the count.
Fast paced offense by both as Lynch regains control. Going to the top rope with a failed Moonsault which Belair turns into the Disarm Her, using the champs move on herself. Multiple close calls from both competitors as Lynch pulls Belair out of the ring by her hair. Dragging her along and eventually driving Belair into the steel steps on the outside.
Multiple Becksploders as The Man looks to continue with the early momentum. Belair tries to shift momentum but is the receiving end of a big kick, leaving her hanging on the ropes as Lynch goes to the top rope with a leg drop. Sending Belair flipping into the ring, who can't seem to get any offensive going in this match.
An armbar in the middle of the ring puts Bianca in a bad place as she moves to free herself trying to form a rollup pin again to break the hold. The challenger unable to become free then shows incredible strength to lift Lynch up, with both falling to the outside in a last ditch effort to break the hold.
Lynch dominating the match to this point. Belair bounces off the ropes and on the outside again to deliver a thunderous suplex to the champion on the outside. Belair now finding her offense, a powerbomb countered into a near fall for Lynch. Belair then quickly back on top in the match, a flurry of attacks leads to her own near fall. Fast paced, high intensity match so far from both competitors.
Corey Graves describes the next sequence as he says “unique offense from the challenger, hanging the champion across the top turnbuckle”. Belair then goes to the middle rope to deliver a picture perfect 450 splash. Leaving the 70,000 plus fans in shock as to how the match is able to continue on.
Lynch turning the tables and grabbing the momentum as she looks to the top rope again. “Big time risk for Big Time Becks” as Becky looks for a vertical senton, doesn’t quite go to plan as she strikes Belair on the bridge of the nose, another near fall follows.
Explosive offense from both as they look to end this match. Both stopping each other from gaining the upper hand. Belair with a spine buster, Lynch gets the knees up as Bianca tries another moonsault off the ropes. Lynch then tries for a Disarm her, countered into a near fall roll up again for the challenger.
The pace slows as both athletes show their fatigue. However this doesn’t last long as both look to be on the front foot again. Belair looking for the KOD again but Lynch grabe the ropes to prevent Belair from going any further. Belair then flips the champ over the ropes for a rough landing on the outside. Biance then realises she needs to get her competitor into the ring to be able to win, as a count out would hand the title back to Becky Lynch.
The champion rolls over to the other side of the ring and quick thinking in grabbing the hair of Belair through the ropes. Then throwing her into the bottom of the turnbuckle and wastes no time by delivering a Man Handle Slam to the steel steps. Becky incensed as Belair not only beats the 10 count but also kicks out of the pin straight after. Desperation then seeming to sync in as Lynch hitting and slapping an already down Bianca Belair.
The champion then perhaps looking for a BIg Time, Man Handle Slam to put this match away. Belair then with unbelievable athleticism as she jumps onto the middle turnbuckle and backflips to her feet. The challenger then avoids a right hand from Lynch. Countering into a perfectly timed KOD to the champion. ONE - TWO - THREE!
Over 70,000 in attendance erupt as Bianca Belair becomes the new Raw Women's Champion. One of the best womens Wrestlemania matches of all time in a hard hitting, electric contest.
The EST of WWE stands tall becoming once again, a champion in WWE.
