Pittsburgh Steelers vs Baltimore Ravens (NFL Wild Card Playoffs)
1ST QUARTER
7:00 ON THE CLOCK: A drive that started on their own 5 yard line looks to continue as Derrick Henry rushes for a gain of 13 yards as the Ravens look to build a meaningful offensive play. The following drive to Henry again as he runs and stiff arms his way to the 11 yard line. A last ditch 3rd & 13 play for Lamar Jackson who finds Rashod Bateman in the endzone for the games first score. The Ravens lead 7-0.
3:15 ON THE CLOCK: The Steelers try to answer back on the returning drive but fall short on 3rd & 7. Russell Wilson finds TE Pat Freiermuth, who is stopped promptly and crucially by the Ravens defence.
1:27 ON THE CLOCK: Before the half ends, Lamar Jackson finds Isiah Likely on 3rd & 4 to ensure that the Steelers do not get the ball again. A great catch from Likely extends the play for Baltimore.
2ND QUARTER
12:58 ON THE CLOCK: The Steelers try to make their own offensive play as they look to get the first down on 3rd & 2. Wilson finds Freiermuth again who is stopped crucially for before the first down marker by Ar’Darius Washington. A stop that could end up helping the Ravens later in the game. Steelers unable to make it count as they remain scoreless.
10:15 ON THE CLOCK: The ball returns to the hands of Derrick Henry who drives through the Steelers defense yet again to almost get another first down. However, nothing comes of the drive as the score remains 7-0 to the Ravens.
7:25 ON THE CLOCK: Lamar Jackson takes matters into his own hands and runs with the ball on 2nd & 13 to get a first down. The Ravens QB then does the same one second down of the following play as he runs to gain yardage and another first down. The partnership of Henry and Jackson continues as Henry gains another first down with rushing yardage added to his great start to the game. First & Goal results in a touchdown for the Ravens as Derrick Henry rushes through shows his powers, driving through tackles to make the end zone. Ravens lead 14-0.
2:12 ON THE CLOCK: The Steelers once again can’t get their offense going as they give the ball back to the Ravens before the 2 minute warning. The Steelers have a scoreless first half in a game that they needed to have a fast start in.
0:55 ON THE CLOCK: Baltimore gets the ball back and drives from around their 15 yard line. Catches from Nelson Agholor, Mark Andrews & Isaiah Likely lead to a 2nd & Goal. Lamar Jackson looks ahead and drops back, possibly in some trouble before stepping back into the pocket. He throws on the run to a wide open Justice Hill for the touchdown. The MVP candidate shows his abilities in the first half. Ravens 21-0 Steelers at Half Time.
HALF TIME - BALTIMORE RAVENS 21 -0 PITTSBURGH STEELERS
3RD QUARTER
10:49 ON THE CLOCK: Pittsburgh on their own 3 yard line. Russell Wilson fires one up to Calvin Austin at the 29 yard line. A big gain for the Steelersas they look to move forward. The following plays lead to a catch by Mike Williams, stopped just shy of the 30 yard line. The best drive so far by the Steelers. 3rd & 10 for Pittsburgh as WIlson throws a dime to the receiver Van Jefferson for the touchdown. Ravens 21-7 Steelers.
7:21 ON THE CLOCK: The Ravens look to be in trouble as they are at 2nd & 20 midway through the 3rd quarter. Lamar Jackson finds space and finds Tylan Wallace who pushes through tackles and makes the first down. The next plays result in another first down after Steven Sims rushing near the 45 line. On the next play Derrick Henry gets the ball and drives through the Steelers Defense yet again. He breaks through and drives to the endzone for the touchdown.
5:49 ON THE CLOCK: The Steelers try to make an offensive drive count to get themselves back into the game. On the next part of the drive Najee Harris makes plays, receiving the ball and running for large gains. This sets up a 2nd & 9 from the 36 yard line. Russell Wilson throws a pinpoint precision pass in between two Ravens defenders to George Pickens, who collects the ball and scores their first touchdown of the match. Steelers 14 - 28 Ravens.
2:40 ON THE CLOCK: Pittsburgh once again has the ball, looking to apply the pressure again on this drive. A good start by Najee Harris as he gains almost a whole 10 yards including 5 yards whilst being tackled. Four yards needed on a 3rd down but the safe hands of George Pickens makes sure that they get the 1st down. However, no more progress was made as the Ravens kept Pittsburgh at their own 35 yard line before they regained the football. 14- 28 Ravens.
4TH QUARTER
13:36 ON THE CLOCK: After regaining possession Baltimore continues with their key drives as they make important saves with their offense to keep it going. This included great work by the Offensive Line, good catches when needed and switched on receivers. However, the pressure amounts to nothing.
7:48 ON THE CLOCK: The ball returns to the Steelers as QB Russell Wilson will need a special performance from himself and his team. When needed he delivered, George Pickens with the catch to try and kick the drive with only seven minutes left. After some penalties, the Steelers are 3rd & 22 needing a big play. A slight gain leads to 4th & 15 which they have to go for given the circumstances. Russell Wilson tries almost a hail Mary type throw, unsuccessful and almost intercepted by Ar’Darius Washington.
5:25 ON THE CLOCK: The Ravens then run the clock down with some key plays from QB Lamar Jackson rushing himself and RB Derrick Henry for first downs. With just under 1:45 on the clock the Ravens do a tush push on 3rd & 1 to ice the game with Mark Andrews as the Jalen Hurts for the Ravens as the commentator says.
Lamar Jackson takes a knee with 30 seconds left to end the game as the Baltimore Ravens head to Buffalo for the Divisional Round against the Bills. A matchup that could go many possible ways. One to look forward to on the road to the Super Bowl.
