Seattle Seahawks vs New England Patriots (Super Bowl LX)

1ST QUARTER

12:02 ON THE CLOCK: On the opening drive of the game Seattle were able to make it into the 20 yard line with an incredible catch from former Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp. However, they were unable to make it much further with a 4th down field goal attempt needed. The 33 yard attempt from Jason Myers was good and gave Seattle an early lead in San Francisco. Seahawks 3-0 Patriots.

2ND QUARTER

11:45 ON THE CLOCK: After great defense from the Seahawks including a sack from LB Derick Hall, they got possession back without a score for the Patriots. As they got the ball back, RB Kenneth Walker III produced some much needed yardage to get the Seahawks into field goal range again. Myers made no mistake again and extended the lead for Seattle to 6-0.

10:43 ON THE CLOCK: Drake Maye and the Patriots try to make a positive play and create a meaningful drive for the Patriots for the first time in the game. However, 2nd & 3 from near the 40 yard line didn't go as planned. Maye is sacked once again this time from rookie DT Rylie Mills and all but puts an end to the drive as it was starting. A terrific moment for Mills, the rookie out of Notre Dame got the sack in the Super Bowl as Seattle’s defense continued to dominate.

0:20 ON THE CLOCK: Sam Darnold went long on 3rd & 3 looking for a receiver with time running out before half time. He dropped back before he tried to find WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba but it was intercepted by CB Christian Gonzalez. Another vital block on the ball by the Patriots defender who may have saved 2 touchdowns within the first half himself.

The ball was still in field goal range so Myers stepped up again, this time from 41 yards to make it 9-0 before half time. The 3rd field goal in just the first half as both offences struggled to get going in the game. However, Seattle were able to get 3 scoring drives to New England's 0.

HALF TIME - SEATTLE SEAHAWKS 9 - 0 NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

3RD QUARTER

9:17 ON THE CLOCK: With the Patriots starting the second half with the ball and not being able to make positive progress it was punted back to Seattle. They continued their good momentum with the ball thrown to RB Walker again. He dodged tackles and drove through the Patriots defense before being taken down near the 20 yard line. They were unable to make it much further as another field goal was attempted and successful by Jason Myers. Seattle 12-0 Patriots.

7:42 ON THE CLOCK: 1st & 10 for Seattle on their 18 yard line had Darnold in the pocket but the pressure from New England forced a loss of 10 yards on the play. A great effort from DT Milton Williams with a much needed stop for New England.

5:10 ON THE CLOCK: On the next drive, this time by Drake Maye and the Patriots resulted in a familiar end. A 1st & 10 on their 27 yard line ended in a sack and lost yardage as New England continued to struggle with their offense. The possession was quickly given back to the Patriots as a result of this continued struggle.

0:18 ON THE CLOCK: As the 3rd quarter time was running out, the Patriots had the ball again. This time near midfield as they seemed to move up the field steadily. A 3rd & 5 was given to Drake Maye but it did not go as planned again with a forced fumble this time, which was recovered by the Seahawks. DT Byron Murphy dived on the ball unchallenged to secure the turnover for Seattle.

4TH QUARTER

13:28 ON THE CLOCK: 1st & 10 on the 16 yard line created an opportunity for Seattle as Sam Darnold moved back out of the pocket. As pressure was closing in on him he threw the ball long towards TE AJ Barner. A perfect throw from Darnold to Barner as he moved into the endzone with the catch for the first touchdown of the game. He was free and it was an easy catch for the tight end under no defensive pressure into the endzone. The extra point was good as the score went to Seahawks 19-0 Patriots.

12:33 ON THE CLOCK: The Patriots and Drake Maye knew they had to respond and quickly to that score which they did. A 2nd & 4 on the 45 yard line was thrown from his own 35 yard line by Maye and long towards WR Mack Hollins. He was able to make the catch despite a crowded area and 4 Seahawks defenders past the 40 yard line.

The resulting play was a 1st & 10 from the 35 yard line. Drake Maye wasted no time in looking for the receiver in Mack Hollins towards the endzone. He caught the ball as he fell into the endzone for New England’s first score of the game and it came just minutes after the first touchdown of the game. This reduced the score to Seahawks 19-7 Patriots.

8:48 ON THE CLOCK: A great kick from Seattle had the Patriots pinned to their own 1 yard line as a starting point. Darke Maye quickly threw the ball on 2nd down to RB Rhamondre Stevenson who ran with the ball and hurdled a defender to get the first down. It was followed by a great solo run from Maye up to his 37 yard line as he looked to advance up the field.  A 2nd & 3 near midfield went long again from Drake Maye, this time it was well short of any receivers. It fell into the arms of S Julian Love for the interception. He carried the ball over midfield to near the 35 yard line to get his team in a great position for their next drive.

5:38 ON THE CLOCK: On the next play for Seattle, the ball was given back to Kenneth Walker III. He powered his way through the Patriots defense to get another first down. Then history was made by Jason Myers as he set a new record of 5 successful field goals in the Super Bowl from 26 yards. This put the Seahawks in a great position to win the game with limited time remaining and leading by 15 points.

4:36 ON THE CLOCK: The continued relentless pressure from the Seattle defense put the Patriots at 1st & 10 on the 44 yard line despite their 6th sack of the game just before. However, it went from bad to worse for Drake Maye and the Patriots as he was blocked again and this time it fell into the hands of LB Uchenna Nwosu. He sprinted with the ball into the endzone for a defensive touchdown. The game was now surely over with Seattle leading 29–7.

2:27 ON THE CLOCK: A 3rd & 2 from the 31 yard line was thrown by Drake Maye and caught near the 5 yard line by WR Steffon Diggs. A few plays later on 2nd & GOAL, Maye ran then saw a wide open Rhamondre Stevenson to his left and threw the ball to him. Stevenson just caught it as it was a little short and went in for the touchdown. The score moved to 29-13.

That proved to be the last meaningful play of the game as Seattle ran the clock down and were crowned Super Bowl Champions for the 2025/26 season. A terrific night for the Seattle Seahawks defense as they kept the Patriots from scoring until the 4th quarter. However, the Seahawks were helped by the consistency of the kicking from Jason Myers setting a new Super Bowl record for successful field goals in a game. Their first Super Bowl win since 2014 with a superb season capped off at the biggest game in the NFL with a victory.

An extremely disappointing night for the New England Patriots as they never really seemed close to competing in the game unfortunately. They also had a great season but fell short at Super Bowl LX. A slight resurgence in the 4th quarter proved to be too little too late for Mike Vrabel and his team. However, this could be used as a motivator to come back better than ever with a fantastic young quarterback and team to try again next season.

FINAL SCORE: SEATTLE SEAHAWKS 29 - 13 NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
