Bron Breakker © vs Penta vs Dominik Mysterio vs Finn Balor - Intercontinental Championship Match (Wrestlemania 42 Sunday - Allegiant Stadium)
The bell rang and the match was underway. The champion went straight for Dominik Mysterio and tried for an early spear, dodged quickly by Dom who ran to the support of his Judgement Day friend in Finn Balor. Penta and Breakker then went after each other but the Judgement Day soon took charge and posed for the crowd before Penta made them realise that was a mistake.
Shortly after, Penta had both Judgement Day members on the outside before jumping over the ropes and taking them both out and doing his unique strut which the crowd enjoyed. Out of nowhere a flying Bron Breakker took out Penta with freak athleticism.
As the action returned to the ring, the champ dominated, showing his power and speed. A slam to the canvas for Penta and Balor before an explosive spear to Dominik. Balor had to stop the 3 count himself with Dom down from the spear. Whether that was saving his team mate or keeping the Intercontinental Title in his sights remained to be seen.
A combination of good offense by Penta put him back on top. The Vegas crowd joined in with Penta for a “ZERO MIEDO” as he hit The Sacrifice move on Balor. As he went for a Penta Driver, Breakker returned to the ring mid move to deliver a double suplex to both men. Another incredible show of power and strength from the champion.
The fast paced action continued with Dominik, who took advantage of Breakker going into the ring post after a failed spear. Dominik continued with Penta in the ring, trying for the Three Amigos, made famous by the late, great Eddie Guerrero bue he had to get help from Balor to finish the last suplex.
The champion returned to the ring and threw around both of the Judgement day members like they were nothing! Then he had Balor on the top rope and smiled as he went to jump to the top rope and deliver a Breakker’s Fire to Balor.
All 4 men back in the ring, with each man dropped with Dominik standing behind Finn and Finn was in a perfect position for Dominik to drop him on the ropes for a 619. Dominik looked and appeared to say “f**k it” before a drop kick to Balor. Dominik ran to deliver the 619 but it was caught by Balor, he swept the legs from under Dom and started stomping him.
Meanwhile, Penta waited to pick his moment and hoisted Balor up for a Penta Driver. A near fall for the Mexican wrestler, after Bron Breakker came in and broke up the count. What a moment that could have been for the man making his Wrestlemania debut.
A back and forth between Penta and Breakker followed before Carlito intervened leading to Breakker flying out of the ring. Mysterio then came back into the ring and tried to steal a roll up win. Penta managed to break free and delivered a nasty Destroyer to Dom before Carlito yet again got involved. He pulled Penta out of the ring.
A mistake from Carlito as he tried to put Penta through a table but a charging Breakker appeared on the Spanish commentary table. An unbelievable jump from table to table from Breakker took out Carlito, as he was obliterated through the table and didn’t appear to move for the rest of the match.
After struggling to find his way back to the ring, Breakker managed to continue his momentum and speared Penta. Once again Dominik Mysterio picked his moment and drop kicked Breakker onto the ropes to deliver a 619. As he went for the Frog Splash to end the match, Balor took his feet away for an uncomfortable landing on the turnbuckle for Dom.
The alliance between Judgement Day members was well and truly broken. Balor managed to Slingblade and Dropkick Breakker to put him in the perfect position for the Coup De Grace. It landed perfectly for Balor, as he looked to be on his way to win the IC Title. However, a flying Dominik Mysterio had other ideas. A picture perfect Frog Splash from Dominik onto both men made the crowd erupt. A pin on his Judgement Day teammate…
1…2…3! DOMINIK MYSTERIO WINS! HE IS THE WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION!
An amazing fast paced and all action match by all 4 competitors. A debut to remember for Penta in Las Vegas showcasing his talent. An endless feat of strength, power, athleticism and so much more from Bron Breakker. Another great showing from both Finn Balor and Dominik Mysterio as their Judgement Day strories had another chapter written in them.
The Judgement Day would have friction going forward considering how this match went and especially with how it ended. However, this meant a great leading story going forward in the months to come for WWE to capitalise on.
