Seth Rollins vs Roman Reigns vs CM Punk - Wrestlemania 41 Saturday Main Event (Allegiant Stadium)

Seth Rollins was the first to make his entrance with an outfit change, a flame thrower and the crowd singing along to his theme song. Another unique outfit for the Visionary as he pointed towards each section of the crowd in Las Vegas to get louder for him. He stood in the middle of the ring with his arms out as he usually does following his entrance but Roman Reigns cut that short with the start of his entrance.

Roman Reigns made his way to the top of the ramp and put his finger to the sky throwing “the ones” up. The pyro lit up the stage to accompany his entrance as he then started to walk to the ring. The first time since the pre pandemic era that Reigns would walk into Wrestlemania alone and without the WWE Championship. As he got to the bottom of the stage LED screens lowered with highlights of Reigns' career as well as different members of the Anoa’i Family dynasty. The crowd copied Roman as he threw “the ones” up on the apron before entering the ring.

Finally, CM Punk made his way to the ring. However, after a video package of his time throughout WWE to now with his old theme song of “This Fire Burns” by Killswitch Engage. He emphasised that this was his time and his night due to it being his first Wrestlemania Main Event. He was played to the ring by a live performance by Living Colour as they performed his theme song “Cult Of Personality”. His first Wrestlemania appearance since Wrestlemania 29 (2013) where he took on The Undertaker. Once again the same man was by his side in WWE Hall Of Famer Paul Heyman, much to the disliking of Roman Reigns as his “Wise Man” was taken from him just weeks before.

The start of the match was fast paced and the momentum swung between the competitors in the match. Before long the match spilled out into the crowd with Rollins going over the barricade by CM Punk. The fight continued throughout the crowd, with weapons being used including a fans chair, a garbage can and a steel post. A suplex onto another garbage can took it out of both men as Punk landed on the concrete floor. As the action returned to the barricades, out of nowhere came a flying Roman Reigns over the barricade to take out both men.

The action continued back onto the outside of the ring, with Reigns throwing back men back over the barricades. Both men were laid out with CM Punk even landing on the Prime Hydration Station trolley. Reigns then looked to the Spanish announce table to inflict more damage on his opponents. He cleared the table and started to dominate as he used the giant Prime bottle as a weapon. A brief fight back from both men in the ring ended as Reigns looked to dominate again.

A flurry of offence from CM Punk was followed by a flying elbow much like Randy Savage from the top rope. However, he tried to do the same to Roman Reigns in which he was caught on the ropes by Rollins. Reigns then saw both men on the ropes and went in between Rollins legs. Rollins looked helpless on Reigns' shoulders as Punk saw an opportunity and delivered a Doomsday Device (made famous by WWE Hall Of Famer’s The Road Warriors) off the top rope. Reigns followed this with a Superman Punch to Punk but this only led to a near fall.

Back and forth between Punk and Reigns as the OTC looked for a spear, which was blocked and nearly turned into a GTS. That was reversed by Roman but an almost Rock Bottom from Punk brought another near fall. The Anaconda Vice was locked in immediately by Punk, but just as Reigns looked to be fading a flying Seth Rollins out of nowhere with a Frog Splash to both men. Another near fall followed with each man nearly getting the job done.

A great sequence as Rollins looked to be on top but Punk reversed a move and looked for the GTS before a spear from Reigns took him down and out. Reigns reversed a Pedigree attempt before he looked for a spear which was reversed into a Pedigree! Rollins wasn’t done as he stomped Reigns into the canvas, then got rid of Punk from the ring for the cover but was unable to get the 3 count.

Another fantastic sequence followed, with Rollins failing to land a move from the top rope but was caught by Punk looking for the GTS again. He managed to move his way out of the GTS attempt and in came a vicious spear from Reigns. Punk managed to dodge the spear with Rollins taking the full impact. From that Punk saw his opportunity and finally delivered the GTS to Reigns. The OTC once again showed his grit and determination by kicking out again.

There was another attempt at a GTS to Roman but before he was able to deliver it, he was unable to, then an arriving Rollins rushed in to Pedigree Punk. Yet again not enough to keep these competitors down.

With CM Punk down and out, Rollins turned his attention to Reigns as he taunted him saying “You’re without him (pointing to Paul Heyman). You’re without me. You’re without Mox (referring to their Shield brother Dean Ambrose - now in AEW). You’re without your Bloodline.” Inferring that he is weak without people around him to protect him.

Rollins then turned his attention to CM Punk, he told Reigns that they need to “put him down”. Before clearing the other commentary table, whilst ushering Reigns over. The OTC seemed torn between what to do before unloading and shouting “PICK HIM UP! NOW!”

Rollins was ready to hoist Punk up to Reigns just like when they were in The Shield together, but Reigns delivered a huge right hand to Rollins. He picked up Punk himself and power bombed him through the table. He then turned his attention back to Rollins, picking him up and power bombing him through the Spanish commentary table.

Immediately he tossed Rollins into the ring, with Rollins clutching his back and barely making it to his feet before another vicious spear. A look of disbelief was on Reigns face as Rollins kicked out again!

The next few minutes turned into a submission match with a Guillotine, an Anaconda Vice and a Sharpshooter all used by each of the men. Which was then eventually broken up by CM Punk Stomping Roman Reigns and a GTS to Rollins. Another near fall followed with Michael Cole then shouting “THE MAIN EVENT CONTINUES!”.

Once again an incredible sequence, with a GTS to Rollins, followed by a spear to CM Punk and a Stomp from Rollins to Reigns as he bounced off the ropes. All three men were down.

The camera panned to Paul Heyman on the outside, he moved towards the time keepers area and picked up a chair. He looked between Roman Reigns and CM Punk before choosing Punk to give the chair to. Heyman then got into the ring and appeared to point at Reigns. Then as Punk lifted the chair up, Heyman delivered a low blow to the match he had been in the corner of the entire match! The crowd gasped as they couldn’t believe what they had seen.

A look at Reigns on the camera showed a look of joy and relief. The Wise Man appeared to be back as he got on his knees and handed the chair to the Tribal Chief. Reigns took the chair as Heyman said “I acknowledge you, my Tribal Chief!” as he unleashed a barrage of shots to the back of CM Punk.

After he was done with Punk, The Wise Man (Paul Heyman) pointed out a wounded Seth Rollins. In which, he also said “THE SHIELD!” with Rollins caught in the ropes with his back to Reigns as he got up gingerly.

A big smile on the face of both Reigns and Heyman as Reigns ushered Heyman away as he looked to punish Rollins. As he was behind Reigns, Heyman dropped to one knee and delivered another low blow, this time to his Tribal Chief. A betrayal like never before and that most never thought we would see. The crowd erupted as they realised what was happening, with shock from the commentators also. Michael Cole was heard saying “MY GOD!” with Pat McAfee saying “PAUL HEYMAN, YOU SON OF A B-!”

The WWE Hall Of Famer then picked up the chair once more. This time handing it to Seth Rollins. An alliance we never thought we would see. As Heyman took a seat in the corner, the crowd serenaded Rollins with the “WOAH OH WOAH” chants from his theme song.

As Roman got to his feet, Rollins behind him kissed the chair and delivered a strike to the back reminiscent of the strike when he betrayed The Shield. Followed by a Stomp into the mat.

1…2…3! This incredible match was over. The winner - Seth Rollins with the assist from Paul Heyman. The hand held high into the air of Rollins by Heyman. The alliance we never thought we would see but was now a reality. Rollins took the chair almost as a souvenir as he went up the ramp. He turned, putting his arms out like in his entrance, this time with the steel chair in hand and Paul Heyman now by his side.

A terrific main event for night 1 of Wrestlemania. Incredible feats of athleticism. Both tables lay in ruins by the end of the match. Countless finishing maneuvers that couldn’t put another away with near fall after near fall. Betrayals that will go down in the history of WWE and a brand new alliance to take into the future.
