CM Punk’s WWE Return - Survivor Series 2022 (Allstate Arena)
CM PUNK WWE RETURN - SURVIVOR SERIES 2023
With the conclusion to a gruelling and high intensity mens Wargames match in the main event, including a returning Apex Predator Randy Orton the event seems to be ending its broadcast from the Allstate Arena in Chicago. A match that included a bull rope, chairs, tables, kendo sticks and another failed cash in opportunity for Senor Money In The Back Damien Priest.
As the camera begins to pan out of the ring to show the sold out arena of over 17,000, it seems the end of the night. Michael Cole says the atmosphere has been “electric to say the least”.
Cody Rhodes Kingdom music still playing until the familiar sound of static can mean only one person. The screen at the top of the arena shows the words CM Punk and his logo as the roof comes off the Allstate Arena. Everyone in disbelief that their hometown hero looks to have returned to WWE for the first time in nearly a decade.
The camera pans to the entrance as the crowd becomes deafening to the point of nearly being unable to hear Cult of Personality. CM Punk emerges from Gorilla to the eruption of the sold out crowd in Chicago.
A look of determination and seriousness on the face of Punk as he makes his way out of the entrance area. Punk looks around the arena with no empty seat in sight to soak in the atmosphere. This being a crowd mostly sold out due to the persistent rumours of a possible Punk comeback since he left AEW just two months prior.
Shock, surprise, enjoyment and joy fills the arena for a moment many believed would never happen again in WWE. With familiar chants of “CM PUNK! CM PUNK!” reminiscent of his pro wrestling return in 2021 in the same city of Chicago. The only place that both of these monumental returns could take place.
Punk nods his head in approval for the reaction he was getting from the Chicago natives. Before going down to one knee, smacking the concrete floor numerous times with extra passion. Then looking at his watch, cupping his mouth saying “IT’S…” before pointing to the crowd as they say “CLOBBERING TIME!”.
Then looking towards the ring, Punk smirking as he looks at competitors he could share the ring with in many possible dream matches in the future. Going across the stage as he gestures to the fans, to raise the noise levels even more than the already booming Allstate Arena.
Embracing members of the WWE Universe in the crowd as they look overjoyed to have this memory they are sure not to forget. Before going back to the center of the stage, letting out a bellowing “OHHHHH!” as the Survivor Series ends in a jaw dropping fashion.
A new reality sets in as a new beginning starts in the working relationship of CM Punk and WWE. Ensuring everyone to never say never in the pro wrestling industry.
