Green Bay Packers vs Philadelphia Eagles (NFL Wild Card Playoffs)
1ST QUARTER
15:00 ON THE CLOCK: The Green Bay Packers receive the ball first with Keisean Nixon returning before a perfect tackle or “absolutely clean hit” from Oren Burks as Tom Brady says on commentary, forcing a fumble recovered by the eagles.
14:53 ON THE CLOCK: The ball in the hands of Eagles QB Jalen Hurts who hands it off to one of the offensive players of the year in Saquon Barkley. He wastes no time running with the ball, spinning tackles and using his strength to get the first down back to back. The Eagles continue the drive and find themselves on the 11 yard line, with Jalen Hurts given all of the time in the World to decide what he wants to do before firing it into the endzone to find Jahan Dotson for the first score of the game. The Eagles go from expecting to defend the first drive of the game to having the first touchdown within 1 minute 40 seconds. Eagles lead 7-0.
6:10 ON THE CLOCK: The Packers have a 3rd & 3 on their own 45 yard line. Jordan Love moves to the side due to pressure from the Eagles defense and tries to throw the ball but a great tackle from Nolan Smith Jr. gets him the sack and his teammates show how important that could be.
5:19 ON THE CLOCK: A 1st & 10 on their 30 yard line for the Eagles as Hurts hands off to Barkley again who looks unstoppable as he goes around the Packers offense before jolting back in getting the yardage needed. On the next play Hurts himself reminds the defence that he can move and get the first downs himself as he slides to get almost 15 yards on the play. Hurts keeps the drive going finding DeVonta Smith from another first down on 2nd and 8. However, an incomplete pass from the 13 yard line on 3rd down means the Eagles have to settle for a field goal. Eagles Kicker Jake Elliot makes no mistake from 31 yards to extend their lead to 10.
2ND QUARTER
15:00 ON THE CLOCK: The Packers start the second quarter with another mistake. Jordan Love looks deep to try and find Dontayvion Wicks but is intercepted by Darius Slay Jr. who matches the run “stride for stride” as commentary says. The ball goes back to Philadelphia.
8:02 ON THE CLOCK: Green Bay have a steady drive going forward making progress when they have a 3rd & 12 which they need to convert to try to get a score on the board. Jordan Love shows his opposite number that he can run with the ball too before benign tackled just before the first down. On the next plays they are unable to make significant progress and go for a field goal to get on the board. Packers Kicker Brandon McManus is unable to make the kick as the ball goes wide left and no good. A first postseason miss of his career.
3:07 ON THE CLOCK: The Packers have the ball again on 1st & 20, with Love finding Jayden Reed who gets two Ealges defenders in a tangle before running and breaking tackles to get the much needed first down for his team. The Packers then appear to be their own worst enemy as they continue to get penalties and another interception thrown by QB Jordan Love gives the Eagles the ball back yet again as they try too hard to make it up the field.
HALF TIME - GREEN BAY PACKERS 0 - 10 PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
3RD QUARTER
10:11 ON THE CLOCK: Jordan Love finds Josh Jacobs for the first down on their 35 yard line. The Packers QB then throws again despite tight pressure from the defensive blitz of the Eagles, a crucial adjustment and catch from Dontayvion Wicks, who makes the play and gets another first down as they advance to Eagles territory. Despite the advances and making gradual progress the Packers can only make a field goal to narrow the gap slightly and make it 3-10.
4:41 ON THE CLOCK: A 3rd & 3 for the Eagles as Hurts finds space to throw to DeVonta Smith, who continues to run and get close to the 30 yard line. Philadelphia need a play on 2nd & 1 as Dallas Goedert received the ball after adjusting mid throw to receive the ball. The Tight End then uses the stiff arm twice to drive into the endzone for the touchdown, a 24 yard touchdown for the Eagles number 88. However, the extra point is then missed as the score remains 3-16 to the Eagles.
0:50 ON THE CLOCK: A much needed first down for the Packers as Wicks catches vitally to keep the drive alive within the 35 yard line. A 2nd & 10 from the same spot is handed to Josh Jacobs who barges his way through the Eagles defence and is just short of the goal line. A great effort from the Running Back who is making his stamp on the game be known. The next play Jacobs takes the ball again and does not take no for an answer as he forces his way through to give the Packers their first TD of the game. A ninth straight touchdown in nine games for the Packers Running Back who almost single handedly made the end of that drive himself. The Packers are just 6 points behind.
4TH QUARTER
14:55 ON THE CLOCK: 1st & 10 from their 30 yard line for the Eagles as Hurts makes the play to Goedert with a good catch and carry for the consecutive first downs. A 4th & 1 means only one thing for the Eagles as they convert the ever familiar tush push to get Jalen Hurts over the line for another first down to extend the drive. However, further in the drive Philly seemed stuck as Hurts looked to run the ball himself before being stopped well short of the yardage needed. Meaning another field goal is needed to extend the lead. Packers 10 - 19 Eagles.
5:44 ON THE CLOCK: The Packers are running out of time and trail by 9 as they give the ball back to Josh Jacobs who gets the first down and more. The frustration grows as Green Bay is not even in Philadelphia territory and gets stuck on 3rd & 3 with no progress. Therefore, the Packers forced on 4th & 3 to go for it rather than punt which almost pays off until Malik Heath is unable to get his feet inbounds and the Eagles get the ball back.
4:00 ON THE CLOCK: Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley are the duo that seems to have caused teams problems all year and has been the same for the Green Bay Packers. A hand off to Barkley does not get the first down but gets them extra yardage for a field goal attempt, which Elliott converted from 32 yards. Packers 10 - 22 Eagles.
2:25 ON THE CLOCK: The Packers and Jordan Love give it one last chance to revive their playoff hopes. A 3rd & 19 pass to Emanuel Wilson was caught well and ran to get the first down. Jalen Hurts goes for the long ball into the endzone to find his receiver, a call of “oh” from Tom Brady on commentary tells you all you need to know as the ball is picked off for an interception by Quinyon Mitchell. A third interception thrown by QB Jordan Love who has a day to forget at Lincoln Financial Field.
