Los Angeles Chargers vs Houston Texans (NFL Wild Card Playoffs)

1ST QUARTER 

11:41 ON THE CLOCK: The Chargers QB Justin Herbert runs out of the pocket and finds some space before a great catch by Tucker Fisk for the first down. The drive continues before an unsuccessful rush attempt on 3rd & 1 by J.K. Dobbins stops the Chargers advancing any further. A good stop by Folorunso Fatukasi for the Texans. A field goal for the Chargers gives them a 3-0 lead.

9:37 ON THE CLOCK: CJ Stroud tries to find John Metchie III but the ball is ripped from his arms to force a turnover for the Chargers 

8:10 ON THE CLOCK: A great play by Will Anderson Jr. as he sacks Justin Herbert for a loss of 9. 3rd & 19 for the Chargers as DJ Chark tries his best to get the first down but comes up well short. Another field goal was good from Cameron Dicker as Los Angeles extended their lead to 6-0. 

5:18 ON THE CLOCK: The Texans need a play on 3rd down but CJ Stroud almost gets intercepted by Daiyan Henley who seems angry at himself for missing the opportunity. 

2:34 ON THE CLOCK: Houston tries to get a meaningful drive going as Dalton Schultz makes a play to give the Texans back-to-back first downs. A solid catch from Robert Wood then gives the Texans more momentum with another first down. CJ Stroud is sacked by Joey Bosa in the next plays for a 3 & 15, stopped by the Chargers defense. 

2ND QUARTER

14:53 ON THE CLOCK: QB Justin Herbert finds rookie WR Ladd McConkey for the first down on the 20 yard line. The same partnership combines in the next play to reach another first down. The next plays amount to nothing as the Chargers struggle again to make any significant advances. 

11:46 ON THE CLOCK: CJ Stroud floats the ball up but it is intercepted by LA’s Dean Leonard. The Chargers take over on the 40 yard line. Justin Herbert then seems to do almost the exact same throw as he is then intercepted by Kamari Lassiter. Houston gets the ball on the 10 yard line. 

 11:30 ON THE CLOCK: Both teams' defenses seem to be on top as LA forces another sack for 3rd & 18. Both teams are unable to make conversions on third downs as the offenses struggle.

8:02 ON THE CLOCK: The familiar combo of Herbert and McConkey makes a conversion to first down from 3rd & 12. However, still no meaningful plays when attacking for either team as LA is forced to punt. 

5:30 ON THE CLOCK: The Texans start from their 1 yard line and make advances thanks to catches from Nico Collins & John Metchie III. The ball becomes loose on the next play from the snap but CJ Stroud is able to recover and find Xavier Hutchinson for the first down on the 49 yard line. A pinpoint pass from Stroud finds Nico Collins as he runs with the ball to the 13 yard line. The following play once again finds WR Nico Collins for the first touchdown in the match. The extra point is good as Houston now leads 7-6.

0:22 ON THE CLOCK: CJ Stroud runs the ball himself to get the Texans within field goal range. Robert Woods is found by Stroud to get more yardage for the field goal attempt. Kai’mi Fairbairn’s 41 yard attempt is good, 

HALF TIME - LOS ANGELES CHARGERS 6-10 HOUSTON TEXANS

3RD QUARTER 

13:45 ON THE CLOCK: The Texans started the 3rd quarter as they finished the 2nd with Nico Collins catching for a huge gain on the play, giving the Texans the ball inside the LA 25. The next play leads to a fumble as the Chargers now have the ball on their 26 yard line. 

12:50 ON THE CLOCK: The Chargers try to make their way up the field even going for it on 4th & 2 but they come up short and give the ball back to Houston. The camera pans to Chargers Head Coach Jim Harbaugh who looks at a loss for words as his offense can’t seem to get their plays going. 

6:59 ON THE CLOCK: CJ Stroud looks to float one into the endzone which appears to be intercepted by Derwin James who takes it to the 42 yard line. However, after review it is determined that James did not have possession of the ball as he caught it when it hit the ground. Houston gets the ball again but can only set up a field goal which is good, to extend their lead to 13-6. 

0:20 ON THE CLOCK: Justin Herbert looks to make a play on their 32 yard line but misses the receiver and gifts the ball to Eric Murray. The unsuspecting Murray gathers the ball and takes it to the endzone for the pick 6. Texans 20-6 Chargers. 

4TH QUARTER

15:00 ON THE CLOCK: The Chargers seem to be making progress with a multi play drive until a pass slips through fingers of TE Will Dissly straight into the hands of the waiting Derek Stingley for the interception. He runs to inside the 15 to put the Texans in prime position for a score. However, they are unable to make the plays for a touchdown but Fairbairn gives Houston another 3 points. Texans 23-6 Chargers.

12:00 ON THE CLOCK: Things seem to be going from back to worse for the Chargers as they have back to back sacks and a 3rd & 26. Herbert is able to find McConkey again at the 40 before he runs all the way through the Texans defense for the touchdown. 86 yard play for the Chargers brings the game back to 12-23. The extra point attempt is blocked and into the air, picked up by the Texans who run the ball to the endzone for a 2-point conversion. The game is 12-25 for the Texans. 

4:42 ON THE CLOCK: Houston with good plays to waste as much time as possible before a QB tush push on 4th & 1 gives them a much needed first down. Joe Mixon comes into his own in the latter stages of the contest with crucial running plays to give as much yardage as possible for the Texans as they close in on victory. 

3:47 ON THE CLOCK: Joe Mixon runs again on the 4th & 1 and barges through the Los Angeles defense before squeezing into the endzone for the touchdown. A well deserved touchdown for the Texans Running Back. A 20 point advantage for Houston as they move into the final few minutes. 

2:55 ON THE CLOCK: The Chargers try a last ditch attempt at a comeback however, Justin Herbert tries to go long only to find Derek Stingley for the interception. The Texans ice the game with minimal time left. 

The Houston Texans will meet the reigning Super Bowl Champions the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead in the Divisional Round.
