Green Bay Packers vs Chicago Bears (NFL Wild Card Play Offs 2026)
1ST QUARTER
7:06 ON THE CLOCK: The first meaningful drive of the game was for the Bears as they saved 4/4 3rd down attempts. However, they were unable to make a final 3rd down into the goal zone. Therefore, they had to settle for a 27 yard field goal attempt from Cairo Santos to make it 3-0 to the Bears.
2:12 ON THE CLOCK: On the other hand, the Packers made their first meaningful drive count too. The drive was helped by Romeo Doubs catching a long throw downfield and Josh Jacobs running with the ball for a first down. Then on 3rd & 2, Jordan Love faked a hand off and turned the opposite way to Christian Watson. He managed to run through a tackle and over the pylon to get the touchdown. Packers 7-3 Bears.
2ND QUARTER
6:51 ON THE CLOCK: The Packers got the ball back early in the 2nd quarter thanks to an interception from Cornerback Carrington Valentine. Green Bay made their way down the field steadily and effectively and had a 3rd & 9 on the 18 yard line. Jordan Love floated the pass down field and it was caught by WR Jayden Reed as he moved into the endzone for the second touchdown for the Packers in the game.
5:15 ON THE CLOCK: The Bears tried to gamble on 4th & 4 on their 32 yard line to keep their drive alive but were unable to make the play and it was handed back to Green Bay.
Although, a few plays later the Packers gambled themselves on 4th & 1. Another fake from Jordan Love as he passed the ball to WR Christian Watson. He was able to get the first down and more as he continued to run with the ball towards the endzone. He dived over a defender into the endzone, a touchdown was given initially but on review it was overturned. A 4th & GOAL from the 1 yard line was fired into the hands of Romeo Doubs for the touchdown. The Packers extended their lead to 21-3.
0:02 ON THE CLOCK: After another failed 4th down gamble by the Bears, the Packers got the ball back with 32 seconds left. They managed to make it to field goal range and gave Brandon McManus a 55 yard attempt. However, he was unable to make it as it went wide left and the score remained 21-3 into halftime.
HALF TIME - GREEN BAY PACKERS 21 - 3 CHICAGO BEARS
3RD QUARTER
10:17 ON THE CLOCK: The Bears started the second half well and advanced well until a 3rd & 13 just past the 15 yard line was unsuccessful. The throw was a bit low for TE Colston Loveland as he was unable to get underneath it for the catch. A consolation for Chicago was that they were in field goal range. The 34 yard attempt from Cairo Santos was good to make it 21-6.
4TH QUARTER
13:35 ON THE CLOCK: Another failed attempt from the Bears and Caleb Williams as they are unable to convert a 3rd & 10 from the 24 yard line and even lose 10 yards on the play. A great tackle from Packers DE Lukas Van Ness forced another field goal for the Bears. More frustration for Caleb Williams but Cairo Santos was good from 51 yards. Packers 21-9 Bears.
10:12 ON THE CLOCK: Loveland catches for a large gain for consecutive first downs. Consecutive catches from Loveland for the first down again. A 3rd & 3 from the 6 yard line was handed off to RB D’Andre Swift. He powered his way through the Packers defense to get into the endzone for the touchdown. The score narrows to 21-16.
6:44 ON THE CLOCK: Following a vital catch and run by Romeo Doubs on 3rd & 9 the Packers were on the 23 yard line. In the next play the ball was given to WR Matthew Golden. He ran with the ball spinning round defenders and through tackles to make it to the touchdown. Another 6 points which were much needed by the Packers as the Bears looked to fight back. However, the extra point was wide of the posts by Brandon McManus, keeping the gap within 11. Packers 27-26 Bears.
4th & 8 near their own 42 yard line, thrown with pinpoint accuracy to WR Rome Odunze. Then a 3rd & 10 on the 30 yard line was thrown to rookie RB Kyle Monangai. He ran in between defenders and managed to get inside the 10 yard line for the 1st & GOAL. On 2nd & GOAL, Caleb Willaims found an open WR Olamide Zaccheaus mid run as he caught it and moved into the end zone unchallenged.
The Bears offense stayed on the field to go for the 2-point attempt. Caleb Williams looked to his left and fired it into the hands of Colston Loveland for the much needed extra points. That made it a 3 point game. Packers 27-24 Bears.
3:02 ON THE CLOCK: Another drive by Green Bay as they looked to answer back to the Bears touchdown. A 3rd & 15 attempt went long by Jordan Love who couldn't find Doubs in the endzone. On 4th down, the 44 yard field goal attempt by McManus was once again no good as he went wide left this time. An unfortunate day for the Packers kicker with the score still 27-24.
1:48 ON THE CLOCK: A 1st & 10 for the Bears from the 25 yard line. A perfect throw from Caleb Williams to D.J. Moore, who was open inside the 5 yard line. He caught it and went into the endzone to give the Bears the lead. A terrific fight back from Chicago with just minutes left on the clock. Packers 27-21 Bears.
1:05 ON THE CLOCK: It was make or break time for both teams but for the Green Bay Packers in particular. They had one last drive that they had to get a touchdown from or they would be going home. A 4th & 7 in their own half was kept alive by Matthew Golden with a catch just inbounds for the 1st down.
Then a 3rd & 3 just past midfield also kept their drive alive as Romeo Doubs made the catch for the first down despite pressure and tackles from 2 Bears defenders. The next play was caught by Jayden Reed downfield as they kept their season alive still on the 24 yard line.
With just 7 seconds left, the Packers were on the 28 yard line. It was a touchdown or go home for them as they were 4 points behind. It did not get off to a good start as Jordan Love dropped the ball from the snap, therefore he was immediately under pressure at the most vital time in the game. He continued moving out of the pocket to find space then had to move forward again as he looked for an open man in the endzone. Within defenders looming he threw the ball in hope more than anything but was unable to find a teammate as time ran out.
An unbelievable comeback from the Chicago Bears with a 21-3 deficit at half time which they turned round in the second half to advance to the divisional round of the playoffs. They will take on the LA Rams at Soldier Field in the divisional playoffs on the road to Super Bowl 60.
A day to forget for the Green Bay Packers who would not have thought they would have lost that game after having such a commanding lead early on. However, they were unable to capitalise in the second half and their season came to an end at the hands of an inspired Chicago Bears team.
FINAL SCORE - GREEN BAY PACKERS 27 - 31 CHICAGO BEARS
