Los Angeles Rams vs Philadelphia Eagles (NFL Divisional Playoffs)
1ST QUARTER
14:55 ON THE CLOCK: The Eagles start the game with the opening drive on their 26 yard line. Jalen Hurts throws to an open Dallas Goedert who runs with the ball for the first down. Then a 2nd & 4 just past mid field stays in the hands of Hurts as he runs with the ball. He goes through the Rams defence, endures a tackle but keeps on his feet and drives through the rest of the team as he bursts into the endzone. The opening plays produce the first score and touchdown of the game for the Eagles. Although, the extra point is dragged wide. Eagles take a 6-0 lead.
10:49 ON THE CLOCK: The Rams get their first drive of the day going. Matthew Stafford hands off to Kyren Williams who gets a first down plus 10 with great determination. A 2nd & 10 for the Rams goes well as Stafford waits and fires a dart at Puka Nacua for a first down inside the 20. The Rams on 3rd & 6 as Stafford runs himself into open air and forces him way through a tackle before being marked just short of the 1st down. Then on 3rd & GOAL he throws to Tyler Higby who catches on the line and turns for no doubt in the touchdown. 7-6 to the Rams.
3:33 ON THE CLOCK: Both teams fail on 3rd downs in their next drives as both QB’s are sacked and forced to punt back to their opposition.
1:16 ON THE CLOCK: The Eagles on their own 38 yard line with Jalen Hurts handing the ball off to Saquon Barkley. Great pressure from the Eagles offensive line as Barkley runs through hopping past tackles and going all the way. “Touchdown Philadelphia”. They regained the lead 7-13.
0:28 ON THE CLOCK: Matthew Stafford has the ball on his own 27, he looks long as Eagles Cornerback Isaiah Rodgers looks to intercept but Demarcus Robinson steals it from his hands on the 19 yard line for the first down.
2ND QUARTER
14:12 ON THE CLOCK: The Rams on the 21 yard line as Stafford throws to Cooper Kupp, who catches and runs a tackle and gets to within a yard of the first down. Stafford then hands the ball off to Kyron WIlliams to run on 3rd & 2 but is stopped in his tracks by Safety C.J. Gardner Johnson. The Rams settle for a field goal to make it 10-13 to the Eagles.
3:34 ON THE CLOCK: Saquon Barkley is thrown the ball on 3rd & 14. He runs through tackles and uses his speed effectively to get to the first down before being tackled. The drive continues with good runs from Kenneth Gainwell and Jalen Hurts to get the Eagles into first down territory. Then on 2nd & 8 Hurts is nearly sacked but loses the ball momentarily before it is recovered by the Eagles much to his relief. The next play is 3rd & 23 and on this play Hurts is sacked after good pressure from the Rams defense.
3RD QUARTER
11:16 ON THE CLOCK: Despite only needing four yards on the 3rd down for the first down, Stafford goes long with Cooper Kupp catching excellently. In between two defenders but still able to make the catch despite that. On the next play Kyron Williams looks to push through, which he does by brushing off tackles and continuing before a last ditch tackle from Zack Baun. That tackle avoids an almost certain touchdown, which becomes even more important when the Rams can’t make their GOAL attempts count. Another field goal is forced and made by the bearest of margins by Joshua Karty to tie the game.
6:24 ON THE CLOCK: A 3rd & 5 for Philadelphia as Hurts floats one out to a wide open Goedert, who runs with the ball before a hard tackle for the first down. A hand off to Barkley is also used effectively as he drives with the ball and makes the first down yet again. Jalen Hurts then tries to run the ball himself but is unable to by being sacked again. The 44 yard attempt is good as the Eagles regain the lead.
0:32 ON THE CLOCK: The Eagles under pressure with the ball just 8 yards from their own goal line. A great bit of defensive work is repaid with a safety for the Rams as they sack Jalen Hurts again but this time in the endzone to give themselves an extra 2 points. Just one point in it now, Rams 15-16 Eagles.
4TH QUARTER
15:00 ON THE CLOCK: Los Angeles has the ball trying to get the first down near midfield. It is handed off to Williams again but as he tries to make his way through the ball is knocked out of his hands. The turn in conditions could be a factor in this with the ball seeming to slip out of his grasp. It is then picked up by Isaiah Rodgers who takes it all the way to 1st & GOAL for the Eagles. The 3rd & GOAL attempt is handed to Saquon Barkley who pushes his way through the Rams defense for what appeared to be a touchdown. However, on review it was decided that Barkley was short of the goal line. They try and go for it on 4th & GOAL but a penalty sets them back 5 yards so the Eagles kick a field goal instead. 15-19 Eagles.
11:59 ON THE CLOCK: A 1st & 10 for the Rams with Stafford throwing to wide receiver Demarcus Robinson for the first down with a good catch. However, just a few plays later on 3rd & 10 the ball is knocked out of the hand of Matthew Stafford, with Zach Baun pouncing on the ball for another turnover of possession. Philadelphia gets the ball back again.
8:55 ON THE CLOCK: The Eagles go for it again on 4th down, with Hurts finding AJ Brown for a crucial first down. Despite the progress made the Eagles still fail to make another first down. Therefore, it falls into the hands of Jake Elliot, who yet again makes the kick from 37 yards. Extending the Eagles lead to 7.
4:47 ON THE CLOCK: The Rams have to punt back to the Eagles with Saquon Barkley given the ball around his own 20 yard line. He sets off and seems to find all the necessary gaps as he bursts through the Rams defense. The pace and power of Barkley on full show. He even looks back before he makes it to the endzone. Although, the weather seems to take effect again as the extra point goes just wide left. Rams 15-28 Eagles.
3:31 ON THE CLOCK: Los Angeles has the ball just shy of the 15 yard line as they make a positive drive for the first time this quarter. The 2nd & 4 as Stafford finds Cooper Kupp again, who comes up just short of the yardage needed for the touchdown. The 3rd & GOAL attempt is good as Stafford throws into the endzone to Colby Parkindon. NOw only 6 points in it with the score of 22-28.
1:19 ON THE CLOCK: Matthew Stafford finds Puka Nacua just a couple of inches away from the first down. Thn on 3rd & 2 Stafford is sacked again as Jalen Carter takes yardage away from the Rams. A last ditch attempt for Los Angeles in 4th & 11 to keep the match alive. Stafford again looks in the direction of Puka Nacua for the reception but it is a poor throw which is behind him.
0:26 ON THE CLOCK: With the 4th down not working for Los Angeles all they can do now is look and watch with the win now surely going to win this match. Which they do as they ice the game and take a knee to advance to the Conference Championship round to face the Washington Commanders.
