Philadelphia Eagles vs Kansas City Chiefs (NFL Week 2 2025)

1ST QUARTER

5:00 ON THE CLOCK: The start to the game did not go as either team would have liked with continuous plays that led to the opposing team getting the ball. The offense for both teams seemed to be unable to get going. Kansas City had the first real attempt to put points on the board with a field goal attempt from 58 yards by Harrison Butker. However, he could not get the kick right as it veered right and missed the posts by quite some distance.

0:51 ON THE CLOCK: A great run from DeVonta Smith had the Eagles in a good position for the first meaningful attack of the game. On the next play, the ball was handed off to Saquon Barkley who ran through the Chiefs defence and was wide open to give the Eagles the lead.

2ND QUARTER

12:30 ON THE CLOCK: Kansas City appeared to be making ground into Eagles territory with a 3rd & 8 on the 27 yard line. Despite the progression, the Eagles defense forced the Chiefs back with a sack by Andrew Mukuba and Za’Darius Smith. The pressure moved the Chiefs back to the 56 yard line. Harrison Butker lined the ball up again and was accurate to give the Chiefs their first points on the board. Eagles 7-3 Chiefs.

2:53 ON THE CLOCK: A solid offensive drive from the Chiefs with a terrific catch from Travis Kelce and driving runs from their QB Patrick Mahomes to set them up at the 13 yard line for the 1st & 10. Mahomes looked for multiple receivers to throw the ball but had to move quickly due to the pressure from the Eagles defence. He decided to run with the ball again and kept going until he dived for the pylon to get the touchdown himself. An incredible effort from the QB to make the play to give his team the lead for the first time in the game. Eagles 7-10 Chiefs.

0:39 ON THE CLOCK: A 3rd & 9 just inside the Chiefs half for the eagles as they looked to get another first down to continue their drive. A.J. Brown with a good catch but was just short of getting the first down. With time running out before halftime the Eagles elected to kick a field goal rather than go for the 4th & 1. The 58 yard attempt from Jake Elliott was good to tie the score going into halftime. 10-10 at the half way point.

3RD QUARTER

11:38 ON THE CLOCK: To start the second half the Chiefs were unable to make their opening drive of the half last as they gave the ball to the Eagles in their half after some tremendous defending from the Eagles. Even though they were unable to get their own drive going with an unsuccessful throw to DeVonta Smith on 3rd down, they were still in position to kick another field goal. The 51 yard attempt from Elliott was good and regained the Eagles lead, 13-10.

4TH QUARTER

13:07 ON THE CLOCK: The Chiefs had the ball around the 6 yard line for 2nd & GOAL with Mahomes looking for Travis Kelce again as he had done multiple times throughout the game. Unfortunately for the Chiefs, Kelce was unable to get full control of the ball as it bounced out of his hands (for the certain touchdown) and landed in the hands of Eagles Safety Andrew Mukuba. He was able to run with the ball from his own endzone to the opposing half for a huge gain for Philadelphia. A potentially costly interception for the Chiefs was the Eagles now in their territory to extend their lead.

10:42 ON THE CLOCK: From the resulting plays the Eagles had the ball on the 31 yard line. Jalen Hurts threw the ball deep on a 3rd & 10 up to DeVonta Smith, who turned and slowed himself down to make the catch with the defender unaware of where the ball was. He tried to continue the run and get more yards but the defender refused to let him past any further. A 4th & GOAL tush push from the Eagles fired them into the endzone for another 6 points. The Eagles now with a 10 point lead with just under 8 minutes remaining.

3:36 ON THE CLOCK: The Chiefs looked to be in trouble again with 3rd & 10 and a scrambling Mahomes trying to make a play. He was once again able to find open space and slinged the ball to WR Nikko Remigio for the first down and more. From the resulting play, Mahomes stepped out of the pocket for space and once again was able to make a play down field to a wide open Tyquan Thornton in the endzone for the touchdown. An amazing throw from Mahomes to go long to the open receiver for the much needed touchdown. Eagles 20-17 Chiefs.

2:00 ON THE CLOCK: The Eagles had a crucial 3rd & 1 on the 29 yard line. The reliable tush push worked again for Philadelphia as they got the needed first down. They were able to ice the game and take the win back to Philadelphia.

The rematch from the Super Bowl in February ended in the same result with the Eagles taking the victory. A rare 0-2 start for the Chiefs, whilst the Eagles have had the opposite with a perfect record to start their defense of the Vince Lombardi Trophy. A game in which the defences appeared to come out on top apart from occasional moments of quality which settled the game in the end. A good win on the road for the Eagles with the Chiefs needing to reflect on their season so far.
