AEW ALL IN LONDON 2024 - Wembley Stadium
CHRIS JERICHO vs HOOK (FTW Title Match)
Chris Jericho enters the stadium with his band Fozzy playing live at Wembley for the second year in a row for All In. With fire and pyro to accompany the performance, the entrance was one of the best of the night so far.
Hook on the other hand was a more laid back approach to match the Hook character. Still accompanied by fire and smoke machines on the entrance ramp. With the Hook symbol, AEW’s on version of the Bat symbol, projected onto the roof of Wembley.
Hook starts the match in his typical nonchalant way with his back turned to his opponent and both arms on the top turnbuckle with Jericho looking with a smile on his face as he always seems to have in this “Learning Tree” character.
FTW rules meaning anything goes gives Big Bill and Bryan Keith the perfect opportunity to start the match as a 3 on 1 match, giving Hook no chance to create anything in the early goings on this match. Big Bill appears to be a crowd favourite with the UK fans. Jericho delivers a code breaker early into the match, Hook kicking out at one shows the fight he still has to give.
Hook is now trying to make this a fair contest as he dispatches both Big Bill and Bryan Keith in quick succession. Hook tries to get some offense going which is quickly stopped and a Lionsault to try and retain in quick time is met with a just as swift kick out.
The Learning Tree now looks for weapons from under the ring immediately as FTW rules allow. He gets a kendo stick, pool cue and a bag which he empties to reveal cricket balls. A weapon native to the UK, to the amusement of the London crowd.
Now time for Hook to go under the ring as he pulls out a cricket bat this time, with the words “HI GUYS” painted on. Hook uses the bat to take out Big Bill and Bryan Keith on the outside, with the sound of the bat hitting each man echoing around Wembley. The challenger then using the bat on Jericho, before using the cricket balls and firing them at Jericho instead.
Hook mocking Jericho as he has the bat around his neck saying “HI GUYS!”. Before then putting the bat between Jericho’s legs and using it to leverage the champion up and delivering a slam with Taz on commentary saying “yam bag city” seeming to enjoy what his son is doing in this match.
A blind side attack by Bryan Keith as he hits Hook with a trash can lid as is said on commentary. Shifting the momentum in this match back the way of Jericho, now looking for the walls of Jericho, with Hook in considerable pain. Jericho then tries to create more offence but reverses into Hook’s own Walls of Jericho, intercepted by Big Bill, much to the enjoyment of the UK fans.
The beat down on Hook continues on the outside, with Big Bill himself now going under the ring to bring out a table. Bryan Keith then brings out a barbed wire board to place on top of the table. Big Bill then looks to send Hook through the table before finding a way out and sending Bill head first into the steel ring post. Hook then with a low blow to Keith to keep him down as he goes down in considerable and understandable pain.
Jericho reappears to go to work on Hook’s only remaining good eye, a good strategy by the champion as Hook can’t seem to see properly and swings wildly missing every time till Jericho takes him down with a solid clothesline.
“Hook unsteady on his feet” as he still can’t seem to find his bearings, before a clubbing blow with a trash can to the head of Hook. The challenger is unable to move momentarily, before Jericho tries to get the crowd to help Hook back up so he can deliver a Judas Effect. Backfiring on the champion as Hook appears to regain his vision and duck underneath Jericho’s shots before a T-Bone move from the Hook
Hook removes the tape that has been over his left eye and says “I can see” almost simultaneously with Tony Schiavone saying “he can see”.
Red Rum attempted to put Jericho away but unable to be locked in as Big Bill reappears on the ropes, holding Hook as Chris Jericho looks to hit Hook with a pool cue but Hook moves and Bill is caught instead before falling backwards into the barbed wire table.
Bryan Keith hits Hook with a weapon whilst on the ropes, Jericho with the pin but a kick out at the last moment from Hook. Taz on commentary can be heard getting more and more aggravated by what is happening in front of him.
Jericho looks to take out Hook with a kendo stick before reversed by Hook and Red Rum locked in. Bryan Keith again on the apron with the FTW belt this time as a weapon. However, Taz comes away from the commentary table and takes matters into his own hands and puts the Red Rum on Keith. This takes out all outside interference as Chris Jericho has no choice but to tap out of the Red Rum. Another new champion is crowned at All In as Hook regains the FTW title!
